Choosing a replacement band for a Samsung smartwatch comes down to one question: which attachment does your watch use? The Galaxy Watch 4, 5, 6 and 7 all take standard 20mm quick-release bands, so straps are interchangeable across those four generations. The Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and Watch Ultra use Samsung's newer Dynamic Lug system, which means they need purpose-made bands. Once you know which camp your watch sits in, everything else is a matter of material, colour and budget. This guide covers the lot, with every band mentioned available from our Samsung Watch Bands collection, shipped from Melbourne.
Which band fits my Samsung watch? Compatibility chart
Check your model against the table below before buying anything. Band fitment is the single biggest reason replacement straps get returned, and it's entirely avoidable.
| Samsung Watch Model | Band Attachment | Shop Bands |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch 8 / Watch 8 Classic | Dynamic Lug (not spring bar) | Watch 8 bands / Watch 8 Classic bands |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra | Dynamic Lug (not spring bar) | Watch Ultra bands |
| Galaxy Watch 7 (40mm / 44mm) | 20mm quick-release | Watch 7 bands |
| Galaxy Watch 6 (incl. Classic) | 20mm quick-release | Watch 6 bands |
| Galaxy Watch 5 (incl. Pro) | 20mm quick-release | Watch 5 bands |
| Galaxy Watch 4 (incl. Classic) | 20mm quick-release | Watch 4 bands |
| Galaxy Watch Active / Active 2 | 20mm quick-release | Active & Active 2 bands |
| Gear Sport | 20mm quick-release | Gear Sport bands |
| Gear S3 Frontier / Classic | 22mm spring bar | Gear S3 bands |
| Gear S2 (SM-R720 / R730) | Proprietary connector | Gear S2 bands |
One detail worth repeating: standard 20mm bands do not attach to the Galaxy Watch 8 series or Watch Ultra. Samsung replaced the spring-bar connection with the Dynamic Lug mount on these models, so a band that fit your Watch 6 perfectly will not carry over. Always shop from the model-specific collection for these watches.
Silicone, leather, stainless steel or titanium? Picking the right material
Most people end up owning two or three bands and swapping them to suit the day. Here's how the four main materials stack up.
Silicone and sport bands: the everyday workhorse
Sweat-proof, swim-friendly and easy to rinse clean, silicone is the band you wear to the gym, the beach and everywhere in between. It's also the most affordable way to refresh your watch, with Galaxy Watch 7 replacement straps starting from $29 in a wide run of colours. If you wear your watch for sleep tracking, a soft silicone band is also the most comfortable option overnight.
Leather bands: for the office and evenings out
A genuine leather strap turns a sports watch into something you can wear with a shirt. Our leather Galaxy Watch 6 band in light brown with a silver buckle is the popular pick, with matching versions for the Watch 4, Watch 5 and Watch 7 at $49. Keep leather away from pool water and it will age beautifully.
Stainless steel: weight and presence
Link-style metal bands add a traditional watch feel and survive years of daily wear. The Raider stainless band for the Galaxy Watch 7 ($99) uses removable links so you can size it to your wrist, and there's a Watch 4 version too. For older watches, the Milanese magnetic band for the Gear S2 remains a favourite.
Titanium: premium without the bulk
Titanium gives you the toughness of metal at roughly half the weight of steel, which matters if you wear your watch around the clock. The Evo Titanium band ($129) is the top of our Samsung range and comes in fitments for the Watch 4, Watch 5 and Watch 6 as well.
How to change a Samsung Galaxy Watch band (no tools needed)
On the Galaxy Watch 4 through to the Watch 7, every band uses a quick-release pin:
- Flip the watch over and find the small sliding pin on the underside of the band, near the lug.
- Slide the pin toward the centre of the band and lift that end away from the watch.
- Repeat on the other side, then line up the new band's pin in one lug hole, slide the pin in and release it into the opposite hole.
- Give the band a gentle tug to confirm both pins have seated. That's it.
Dynamic Lug bands on the Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and Watch Ultra are even quicker: press the release button at the lug and the band pops free.
Sizing tip: measure your wrist before you order
Most of our Samsung bands come in small/medium and medium/large lengths. Wrap a tape measure (or a strip of paper marked against a ruler) snugly around your wrist where you wear your watch. Wrists under about 17cm generally suit the smaller length; over that, go large. Adjustable options like Milanese mesh and link bands with removable links take the guesswork out entirely.

Frequently asked questions
What size band does the Samsung Galaxy Watch use?
Galaxy Watch 4, 5, 6 and 7 models all use 20mm bands with quick-release spring bars. The Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and Watch Ultra use Samsung's Dynamic Lug attachment instead and need bands built for it. The older Gear S3 takes 22mm bands, and the Gear S2 (SM-R720/R730) uses its own proprietary connector.
Do Galaxy Watch 4 bands fit the Watch 6 and Watch 7?
Yes. The Watch 4, 5, 6 and 7 share the same 20mm quick-release fitting, so bands swap freely between all four generations.
Will my old bands fit the Galaxy Watch 8 or Watch Ultra?
Not directly. These models use the Dynamic Lug system rather than spring bars, so bands from earlier Galaxy Watches won't clip on. Shop the Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic or Watch Ultra collections for compatible options.
Are Samsung watch bands waterproof?
Silicone and sport bands are fine for swimming and showering. Leather should stay dry, and metal bands are splash-safe but worth drying off after chlorinated or salt water.
How much does a replacement Samsung watch band cost in Australia?
Silicone replacement straps start from $29, genuine leather sits at $49, stainless steel link bands at $99 and titanium at $129, all shipped from Melbourne.
