Apple iPhone 13 Specifications

Apple iPhone 13 Specifications

On 9th January 2007, Apple unveiled its first-ever iPhone at San Fransico's Macworld convention. Since then the iPhone has evolved in leaps and bounds.

There have been fifteen generations of iPhones each with different specifications, upgrades, and capabilities, and each as popular as the last. In fact, 8.6 million people in Australia currently own an iPhone.

If you want to stay up-to-date with everything that iPhone has to offer, then getting your hands on an Apple iPhone 13 is an absolute must. So what does this new smartphone have to offer? Read on to find out everything you need to know about the iPhone 13 now.

The Latest Generation of iPhone

The Apple iPhone 13 was released in Australia on 24th September this year, as the first part of the 15th generation of iPhones. At the same time, Apple also released their iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The iPhone 13 features the latest A15 Bionic processing chip, compared to the iPhone 12's A14 chip. This chip features eight more cores for machine learning than the previous one. This means that it has more processing power to deliver fast and high-quality results.

This latest Apple iPhone is a powerful device that is easy and fun to use. It offers a huge range of different functions so, no matter what you need, you will be able to do it with the new iPhone.

Let's take a closer look at exactly what the latest iPhone has to offer by checking out the Apple iPhone 13 specs that you should know about.

Physical Dimensions of the iPhone 13

This 2021 Apple iPhone measures 146.7mm by 71.5mm by 7.7mm. This makes it exactly the same size as the iPhone 12 unless you opt for an iPhone 13 mini.

These smaller models are 7.65mm deep and offer a smaller screen size. Their screens measure 131.5mm by 64.2mm making them much more compact.

The iPhone 13 Pro shares the same screen size as the iPhone 13 but is a little thinner. Meanwhile —as with other iPhone generations — the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the largest of the generation. This measures 160.8mm by 78.1mm by 7.65mm.

Battery Size

The iPhone 13 uses a Li-Ion 3240 mAh battery, which you cannot remove from the casing. This is the largest battery yet, which improves the phone's performance and battery life (more on this in a moment.)

This battery offers an efficient charging time of 50% in thirty minutes or 88% in one hour. It takes one hour and forty minutes to fully charge an iPhone 13 from a flat battery. So what does this mean for the battery life of the iPhone 13?

Battery Life

The iPhone 13 offers the longest battery life yet, lasting for 10 hours and 33 minutes from 100% charge. This is two hours more than the iPhone 12 could manage.

There are three main reasons for this. Of course, the larger battery will play a big part in providing a longer battery life. The efficient display and A15 Bionic processing chip also help to preserve (and therefore prolong) the iPhone 13's battery.

Weight

The iPhone 13 is extremely lightweight and streamlined, which makes it ideal for use on the go. It weighs in at 174g (without a case or accessories). This is 10g cheaper than the previous generation of iPhones.

Screen Type

The iPhone 13 offers a Super Retina XDR display screen measuring 15.4cm diagonally. This features an OLED display and 2532 by 1170 pixel resolution at 460 PPI.

The HDR display features True Tone and Wide Color (P3) to create vibrant and clear images. It also uses Haptic Touch technology and a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating for ease of use. So you don't have to worry about leaving smudge marks all over your screen!

You also no longer have to worry about handling this display with extreme care. The whole screen is protected by ceramic shielding technology, which is tougher than any other smartphone glass on the market at the moment.

The graphic quality offered up by the iPhone 13 is also one of the best on the market. This phone hits 55.9 frames per second on the 3DMark Wild Life benchmark. This easily surpasses the iPhone 12's 51 frames per second and the Galaxy S21 Ultra's 33 frames per second.

Camera

Perhaps one of the most exciting features of an iPhone 13 is the Dual 12 MP camera system, which uses wide and ultra-wide cameras. This means that you have twice the optical zoom-out capability and five times the digital zoom-up capability.

Some other features that the iPhone 13's camera offers include:

  • Portrait mode with depth control and advanced bokeh
  • Portrait lighting featuring six different effects
  • Image stabilization
  • 100% focus pixels
  • Truetone flash with slow synchronization

Of course, the phone offers a lot of the traditional camera shooting modes alongside this. This includes night mode, burst mode, geotagging, and live photos.

You can also use the camera to record the best-quality videos that an iPhone has ever produced. The iPhone offers a specific cinematic mode and allows HDR video recording with Dolby Vision. So whatever you are shooting you can be sure that it will look spectacular.

Water Resistance

We all know the dropping your phone in water is one of the worst things you can do to it. The last thing you want is to find yourself sticking your expensive phone in a bag of rice overnight and hoping for the best!

Fortunately, Apple took this into consideration when creating the iPhone 13. This phone is splash, water, and dust-resistant according to Apple's laboratory conditions testing.

On top of this, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini can withstand being submerged in water for 30 minutes provided that they do not surpass six metres depth. So your phone should survive falling in the loo or bathtub!

Accessibility

When it comes to their customers, Apple is serious about making its smartphones accessible for everyone.

Because of this, the iPhone 13 provides features that support users with vision, hearing, mobility, and cognitive disabilities. These include:

  • Voice control and VoiceOver features
  • Zoom
  • Magnifier
  • Siri and dictation software
  • Closed Captions
  • RTT and TTY support
  • Assistive Touch
  • Switch Control
  • Spoken Content
  • Back Tap

It also offers support in 39 different languages and even more language options are available on the QuickType keyboard. This means that you can always get the most out of your phone, whatever your needs.

The iPhone 13 Operating System

The iPhone 13 uses the latest and most secure operating system around, the iOS 15. This operating system offers:

  • Improved Facetime quality
  • Notifications to help you organize and focus your time
  • Better safari navigation
  • Photo memories
  • SharePlay so you can watch films or listen to music with your friends
  • An improved version of Apple Maps

This is only a handful of the features that the latest iOS has to offer. It is sure to enhance any iPhone user's experience every single day.

iPhone 13 Pricing

So how much will this new iPhone cost you? This is a big consideration for most customers and, as with the majority of Apple products, it depends a little on the amount of storage you need.

Of the entire iPhone 13 range, the iPhone 13 mini is the cheapest and the iPhone Pro Max is the most expensive. An iPhone 13 with 128GB of storage (the standard amount) retails at $1,350 in Australia. If you're looking for more storage than this then you can expect to pay more.

256GB of storage will cost you $1,520 and 512GB of storage will cost you $1,870. If you are looking for 1TB of storage, this is only available on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. With 1TB of storage, these will cost $2,570 and $2,720.

iPhone 13 Accessories

Of course, the price of the iPhone 13 isn't the only thing you should think about when shopping for it. There are plenty of iPhone accessories that are compatible with the iPhone 13 that can enhance your use of it.

The phone itself is available in starlight, blue, pink, red, and midnight. However, if you decide that it's time for a fresh look or want something more individual then iPhone 13 case covers are the way forward.

Some accessories offer a more practical purpose to protect your iPhone and help you get as much out of it as possible. These include:

  • iPhone Airpods
  • iPhone stands or holders for bikes and cars
  • Extra-long charging cables and lightning cables
  • Screen protectors and shock-proof cases
  • Camera attachments for advanced photography

Each accessory is available to make your iPhone 13 perform exactly how you want it to. With their help, you can customize your iPhone to make it the perfect smartphone for you.
